Choose a nonwoven belt by finish and belt tracking
Start with the material, the initial surface and the finish you need: are you removing a light burr, cleaning a surface or producing a defined matte finish? The Scotch-Brite range offers different grades for coarser work and finer finishing. Then check the backing, belt stretch, contours and existing machine. SC-BL is designed for low stretch; SC-BS uses a scrim backing, while DF-BL addresses edge work and flexible guidance.

Which construction suits your finish?
If your current belt stretches on the machine, consider a low stretch SC-BL construction. Flexible SC-BS variants can suit contours and fine finishes; DF-BL is another documented option for edges and deburring. The choice also depends on material, pressure, wet or dry operation and the target surface. What are 3M Scotch-Brite nonwoven belts used for?
Depending on their construction, they are used for cleaning, matting, finishing and light deburring. The open nonwoven structure follows contours and supports an even surface appearance. Assess work requiring heavier initial stock removal separately; the choice of nonwoven belt depends on the material, initial condition and target surface. Product data and a trial on the workpiece help establish a suitable construction.
When does SC-BL make sense instead of a more flexible nonwoven belt?
SC-BL makes sense when the application calls for low belt stretch, for example when a conventional nonwoven belt would stretch on the machine. Its reinforced backing is designed for high belt tension. Whether it suits your belt run depends on the machine, contact geometry and the amount of conformity required. Compare the belt you use now and the target finish with the product information.
How do SC-BS and DF-BL differ when choosing a belt?
SC-BS combines an open nonwoven structure with a scrim backing and is offered for contour following finishing work. DF-BL is described as a robust, flexible construction for deburring and edge work as well. They address different selection needs and are not automatically interchangeable. Decide using the material, whether you work on an edge or a flat surface, the required removal and the way the belt runs on your machine.
Can Krückemeyer GmbH convert 3M nonwoven belts to suitable sizes?
Yes. Krückemeyer GmbH adapts nonwoven belts to application specific widths and lengths. Actual feasibility depends on the base material, backing, belt size, joint and operating conditions; documented limits cannot be combined freely.
