What job must the diamond belt perform?
Start with the material and surface. The listed 3M Trizact 663FC range is described for hard materials such as ceramics and carbide, including removal of thermal spray coatings. Define how much material must be removed, the finish required and whether the process runs wet or dry. Your current belt, its service life and any chatter marks provide useful points of comparison. Then match belt width, backing and operating conditions to the machine.

CHOOSING FOR YOUR PROCESS
Assess removal and target finish together
The 663FC combines diamond abrasive in a three-dimensional structure with a waterproof YF cloth backing. The product data describe wet and dry use and medium to high contact pressure. This is not a general approval for every machine or workpiece: check belt dimensions, contact conditions, process settings and the resulting finish for the specific application. A different belt form or abrasive type may address a different task.
If the listed size does not fit your equipment, we can assess converting a suitable coated abrasive based on the parent material, belt joint and application. Tell us which belt you use now, the workpiece material, its initial condition and your target finish so we can identify what to check next.

Which materials are the listed diamond grinding belts intended for?
The product data for the listed 3M Trizact 663FC belts name hard materials including ceramics, carbide, chilled cast iron and composites. They also describe removal of older thermal spray coatings. That does not approve the belt for every component in those material groups. The initial surface condition, workpiece geometry, amount of material to remove and target finish must suit the selected belt and machine. When enquiring, tell us the exact material and how it is currently processed so that suitability can be assessed.
How do the two listed 3M Trizact 663FC belts differ?
They belong to the same listed product range and differ in their stated width: one is recorded as 101.6 mm and the other as 152 mm. Both are described as 663FC diamond cloth belts. Width alone does not determine suitability. Check the required belt length, machine fit, grinding area and process conditions against the specific product. If your equipment needs a different size, the suitable parent material and belt joint need to be assessed for the application.
Can a 663FC diamond grinding belt be used wet and dry?
The product data describe the 3M Trizact 663FC with a waterproof YF cloth backing and state wet and dry applications. The appropriate method for your workpiece still depends on its material and surface, contact pressure and machine conditions. The belt is described for medium to high pressure, but that does not establish a universal machine setting. Assess the specific process and resulting finish. If chatter marks or uneven removal occur, include the operating conditions in the analysis.
